Electric Vehicles

Transportation activity is the source of one quarter of Canada's total greenhouse gas emissions. Nearly one-half of these emissions are produced by personal vehicles.

Guelph Hydro believes that the adoption of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and electric vehicles (EV) will play a large role in helping the community of Guelph reach its greenhouse gas targets.

As the key implementer of projects under the Community Energy Plan, Guelph Hydro has an important role to play acting as a catalyst and encouraging the community to explore electric vehicle technology.

As a first step, Guelph Hydro conducted an Electric Vehicle Market Research Study in February 2011.
